Most of this is silly

Light hearted stuff from my sketchbook.

Corey Hardman, an artist and all around wonderful person whom I admire, once told me something to the effect of “it’s silly, I’m just spreading colours around on some stretched fabric. None of this really matters.”

Art, like almost everything else in life, is hopelessly mundane when you get close enough to practice it. So we have to laugh at the absurdity of it all. There’s a fine balance to just how seriously to take your work and creations. Seriously enough that you become good enough to express your vision (whatever that is) but not so seriously that you think it’s terribly important. That’s what I aim for
