This is probably the most personal piece I've ever created. Part way through the process, I realized that the force-field depicted could be generated by either the man, from his own fear, or by the woman, out of insensitivity, as she tries to move closer. In any case, this is a common dynamic that leads to pain, separation and isolation. Making it tangible was hugely normalizing and clarifying. Being able to see it allowed it to resolve naturally.
